I done lived on dem river all my life,
Wit my old hound dog and my dear little wife.
We done shared all dem days and dem nights too,
As we wait round for, you know who.
He done flied tru de air most of de night,
In dem sled wit de reindeer whose nose is a light.
All of our chilren try to get just a peek,
They have not had no sleep for over a week.
When finally dey fall into de flo,
We carry dem to bed and shut dem doe.
He come in a twinkle tru dem trees of cy-press,
Bring dem chilren sum pants and even sum dress.
Toys and candy a plenty, he did had,
For everyone of dem chilren cause they had not been bad.
As he left our place and climbed into dem sled,
I heard he say that I too should go to bed.
De only problem he left as he done flew away,
Dem reindeer done ate all de rice and even de hay.
Dey pawed up de ground round my old shotgun house,
Scared all dem varmits away even dem mouse.
