Does courage defeat fear?
Or just hide it from sight.
Can we see our way clear?
From darkness until light.
It seems a constant battle,
Rolls from day to day.
Countless casualties strewn,
All along our weary way.
Hope and supplication,
Bolster our cause so intense.
Leaves us spent, sometimes exhausted,
Apparently without defense.
And yet we answer when it would be simple,
To fold our cards and quit.
Wage another battle,
Give not a tittle, give not a bit.
Girded with his armor,
Into battle we ride.
Victory’s guarantee promised,
With every courageous stride.
It is his promise,
If we but believe.
To vanquish all our demons,
Grant our final reprieve.
Battle hardened and decorated,
We dedicate our lives.
We face another morrow,
With gratitude in our eyes.
